SEO For Your Business Website

One of the biggest mistakes that most beginning website owners make is that they don’t think like their customers when they set up their website… Especially with keywords and SEO.

Too many people are enamored with their own business name when they are building their website and they use their business name all over their website… and their customers cannot find them.

Keywords and SEO

For example, if you are a hair salon in Centennial; what do you think people are typing into Google when looking for your services?

Do you think people are typing in your salon name when they do a local Google search?

Possibly; but I’ll bet there are more people typing in “discount haircut Centennial” or “haircut specials Centennial” than there are typing in “ABC Hair Salon”.

One of the best keyword tips is to think about what your customers are typing into Google when looking for your services.

And then make sure your company website gets in front of them by using these keywords on your website.

Another Mistake With Keywords and SEO

Targeting these same high volume keywords that everyone else is targeting.

Even if you did your keyword research before setting up your business website, and you did everything correctly

You still may be buried on page 7 or page 10 of the local search results.

Here’s why… Let’s say you’re a chiropractor in Denver.

There are hundreds of chiropractors in Denver; and they all want to target these high volume keywords.

After all, “Denver chiropractor” gets searched for in Google 700 times every month…

So the competition for the first page of Google results for this high volume keyword is very tough

And it could take years (if ever) and $1000s paid to some SEO “experts” before you could find your website on page one for the “Denver chiropractors” keyword.

Keywords and SEO… Why Not Try This?

Here’s an idea…

Instead of fighting with 100s of other chiropractors in Denver for 1 keyword that gets 700 searches every month….

Why not find 7 different “Denver chiropractor” related keywords that each get around 100 searches each month?

Because every other chiropractor in Denver else is targeting “Denver chiropractor”, they are neglecting keywords like…

  • “Denver chiropractic center” that is searched for 140 times every month…
  • “Denver chiropractic adjustment” that is searched for 107 times every month…
  • “best Denver chiropractor” that is searched for 73 times every month…
  • “Denver back pain” that is searched for 100 times every month…

Because these less obvious keywords get fewer searches every month, they are less targeted by other Denver chiropractors…

Which makes it easier for your Denver chiropractic office to get onto the 1st page of the Google results for these alternate keywords that local customers are using to search for your business.

And if you are on the first page of Google for 7 keywords…

And each keyword gets 100 searches per month…

That’s still 700 searches per month.

Which is the same as getting on the first page of Google for just 1 keyword that gets 700 searches per month.

Only it is easier to accomplish, and takes a fraction of the time than it does trying to muscle out your competition for these higher volume keywords.

Bottom line… You can target these high volume keywords (like most business websites do) and stay buried on page 7 or page 10 of the search results…

Or you can start targeting these lower volume keywords in bulk and start showing up on page one of your local search results for multiple keywords that your local customers are typing into Google looking for you.

And since 98% of all local customers never go past the first page of local search results…

Would you rather be buried on page 7 for one single keyword?

Or showing up on page 1 for multiple keywords that local customers are using to find your business?

Think about this the next time you research keywords and SEO for any page or post on your website…
