What Exactly Is Retargeting?

keyword researchRetargeting, also known as remarketing, is a form of online advertising that can help you keep your website in front of visitors after they leave your website.

A cold hard fact of Internet life is that only 2% (or less) of all visitors to your site will actually take your desired action…

Whether it is signing up to your email list, actually buying your product, or whatever your desired action is…

And by using retargeting, you have an opportunity to get your website back in front of the 98% of all of your website visitors that did not convert.

What Is Retargeting? Actually, It Is Pretty Simple…

You can set up your retargeting campaigns using a simple (and easy to implement) piece of Javascript code that allows you to “follow” your previous visitors around the Web.

This little Javascript code (known as a “pixel) is placed on your site (we usually add it to the footer of our WP sites) and is never seen by your website visitors; and it will not affect your website performance in any way.

But every time a visitor comes to your website, this pixel will add a “cookie” into your visitors’’ browser….

And this “cookie” will let your retargeting provider (like Google Adwords, or Bing ads) know when to serve your retargeting ad…

So that your retargeting ads are displayed only to people that have previously visited your site.

This gives you a 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) chance to bring these visitors back to your site and get another crack at converting these former visitors.

Retargeting Works- If You Actually Try It…

Most people don’t realize how effective remarketing can be…

So they never try it.

The guys at Bing ads put together a great video on how to use retargeting on Bing to start skyrocketing your conversions.

As well as conversion tracking down to the lowest level on your site.

And since it is from the guys at Bing ads themselves, you’ll get your info directly from the “horse’s mouth”.
